The best comics from all over Germany perform their funniest sets! The top class line up changes from show to show.
This theater has written history as a musical theater. The public has had the opportunity to experience world class productions here, such as CABARET, CHICAGO, CATS, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, STOMP and ELISABETH as well as the popular dinner shows, TONIGHT, LAST CHRISTMAS, and THAT’S LIFE!
1996 the theater is opened with the hit musical GREASE. For three years petticoats, ponytails, cadilacs and unforgotten songs like “You´re the One I Want” and “Summer Nights“ brought the 50s back to life!
1999 a full renovation of the theater was renewig the old brick-line architecture but preserved its special charme and style. In this year RENT & CABARET replaced the musical GREASE.
2000 rhythm entered the Capitol Theater. STOMP shaked the stage and walls, brooms and garbage cans turned into musical instruments.
2001 the Show CAVEMAN was explaining the audience in the club the differences between men and women. Since then the One-Man-Show is regulary playing in the Capitol Theater. In the same year CHICAGO was celebrating a glorified premiere in the auditorium.
In 2002, the dance musical MIAMI NIGHTS celebrated its acclaimed world premiere and won the public’s heart.
In 2004, another world premiere, DAS MÄDCHEN ROSEMARIE, was held in Düsseldorf. Audiences were caught up in the disco fever in 2005/2006 when a breathtaking new production of the musical classic, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, whirled through the theater!
A wide range of entertainment is always guaranteed. Among the top rated shows that have appeared in Capitol Theater Station are THE RAT PACK, FALCO MEETS AMADEUS, BERLIN COMEDIAN HARMONISTS, the children’s musical JIM KNOPF UND LUKAS DER LOKOMOTIVFÜHRER and THE BAR AT BUENA VISTA. Also thrilling audiences were EVITA, THE TAP DOGS, HEIßE ZEITEN and SHADOWLAND – as did the spectacular dance shows ROCK THE BALLET and BALLET REVOLUCIÓN, the family musical VOM GEIST DER WEIHNACHT (based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol), and the comedy shows CAVEMAN and HI DAD! HILFE. ENDLICH PAPA. And that was to name but a few …
Capitol Theater is also the venue of the guest performances of the Düsseldorf’s Köm(m)ödchens and since February 2011 also the site of Thomas Hermanns’ QUATSCH COMEDY CLUB, whose legendary stand-up comedy shows keep audiences laughing.
Once again, from November 2011 to December 2012, a world premiere conquered Capitol Theater’s stage, the irresistible musical comedy by Hape Kerkeling, KEIN PARDON. The musical entertained the public with lots of humor, infectious music, and a generous portion of “Ruhrpott” charm. At the close of 2012, SOAP – The Show was thrilling audiences with sparkling and lively acrobatic numbers revolving around the bathtub.
2013 also held many highlights in store. The QUATSCH COMEDY CLUB once again presented first class live comedy entertainment and together with the one-man comedy show, CAVEMAN, kept Düsseldorf audiences in stitches. And in July 2013, the midlife crisis revue, MANN O MANN, swept the stage of the Capitol Theater for the first time and showed that men also have their problems with growing old. In August 2013, the show revolution, MAYUMANA, celebrated wrestling with time in an unprecedented manner.
In 2014 such exceptional live-performances as MOMIX BOTANICA and ROMEO AND JULIET enthused Düsseldorf's audience. With 49½ SHADES, the musical parody on the bestselling novel "50 Shades of Grey", Capitol Theater brought a funny satiric musical live on stage. 2014's highlight was the German premiere of SHREK - THE MUSICAL in october.
